Lost In Translation (Part B) Assassination Attempt? No, Says Prosecutor

Two days after a man pointed a pistol at the head of an opposition party leader during a nationally televised convention and the gun misfired, local media quoted Bulgaria's Deputy Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov as saying that there was no assassination attempt, technically speaking.

Sarafov claimed the attacker's air pistol was not capable of inflicting fatal injuries on Ahmed Dogan, founder of  the Bulgarian ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms. His statement stoked widespread cynicism among Bulgarians over whether the Jan. 19, 2013, episode was staged-- this despite its being witnessed by hundreds of members of the party and viewed by thousands more on television and millions on You Tube. Evidence of lethal air gun incidents is not hard to find, such as Boy, 10, killed with his father's air gun while playing Cowboys and Indians with his friends, London Daily Mail, MailOnline.com, Sep. 29, 2009
